United Media appoints new editors for Nova portal and newspaper

29th June, 2022

United Media appointed the new editors in chief of the Nova portal and newspaper on June 29th. Mihailo Jovicevic was named editor in chief of the Nova.rs portal and Ranko Pivljanin editor in chief of the Nova daily newspaper.

“We recognized Mihailo Jovicevic as an experienced editor with knowledge of digital development who contributed greatly to the growth of the Nova.rs portal. Even though he faces a demanding task we believe that he will do the job well and that the portal will remain recognizable for its quality content, objective reporting and independence. Ranko Pivljanin is a journalist who spent his rich career always defending the principles of the profession in the best possible way and it means a lot to us that he is taking over the newspaper in this difficult period for the print media. We wish them both a lot of luck in their new posts,” United Media CEO Aleksandra Subotic said.

Jovicevic was executive editor of the portal. “It’s a great honor and pleasure to take over this challenging and very honorable post. I am sure of two things: that I will never fill (the late) Veselin Simonovic’s shoes and that I will never stop trying. I am sure that the Nova.rs news desk faces a great future and that it will achieve all the planned goals with mutual help and cooperation,” he said.

Ranko Pivljanin was executive editor of the Nova daily newspaper. “I know that this is an occasion for talk of honor and responsibility but I would give the priority to a sense of obligation to (the late) first editor in chief Stojan Drcelic who raised the Nova newspaper so that the principles he stuck to continue after him, and to the co-workers who make it worthwhil to accept this hot spot. Thanks to the United Media management for their trust which I will try to justify,” he said.

The Nova.rs portal and Nova daily newspaper are part of United Media, the leading media company in southeastern Europe which operates in eight countries and owns six national TV stations, 50 cable channels, 30 portals, eight print editions and five radio stations.
